Climate Change

Let's see... the total amount of carbon dioxide in
the entire atmosphere of Earth, according to the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(the people who measure it), is 3,000 billion
tons. In parts per million, it was about 316 in
1959 and 390 in 2011. So I'll divide 3,000 by 390.
Now we know that one ppm represents 7.7 billion
tons of carbon dioxide.

OK, then, how much carbon dioxide do humans
worldwide dump into the air yearly just from
burning fossil fuel? In 2011,34.7 billion tons.
Divide 34.7 billion by 7.7 billion, and we can see
that we should expect the rise in carbon dioxide
to be 4 ppm every year.Is it?

Well, no. It is rising lately only about 2
ppm per year. Why?

Earth's oceans have a huge capacity to absorb
carbon dioxide from the air, and they continue to
do so to our peril: Everyone must take part —
government, industry and you.

World governments must decide that we are going to
remove enough carbon dioxide from the air until
its level is safe, funding it through a carbon tax
or whatever. Industry must do the removal.

We all, individually — must stop using fossil
fuel. You must start by weaning off gasoline. Get
rid of that SUV and start driving a plug-in car
like C-Max, Volt, Leaf or Prius. Stimulate the
industry to make more of these vehicles and make
them better. Will they work in cold countries? Not
very well, battery energy drops like a stone in
cold weather.

You must spring for those solar panels — electric
and thermal — and stop making excuses about
expense or roof issues. Will this work in cold
countries like Canada, where Ray advises we have 10
months of Winter and 2 months of poor skiing? NOT.

However If something is not done by the BIG
Polluters Example China,India,USA,Russia.
We will literally either drown or be on high
ground depending upon what you do.Living in
Florida for 6 months of the year,we are not on
very high ground. However I’m a good swimmer.
