Florida - LEGALIZE WARNING SHOTS

Image
Proposal to widen "stand ground" law is among several gun-rights bills this session. NRA-BACKED BILL WOULD LEGALIZE WARNING SHOTS   Florida's annual Second Amendment battle is underway in Tallahassee, highligjited by an NRA-backed bill that would let people fire warning shots when attacked The change would broaden the controversial "stand your ground" law, which allows anyone in fear of death or serious injury to use deadly force against a suspected attacker. If passed, brandishing a firearm and firing warning shots to scare away an attacker will be legal.Even though Florida has issued more concealed-weapon  permits than any other state Florida has issued 1.2M concealed-gun permits.

Cheap Tablets - Buy? - Beware

Image
Should you buy it? With the bad viewing angles on the screen,  the sub-par performance  and the atrocious battery life, I can't recommend  you purchase the Datawind Ubislate 7CX. At around the same  price you can pick up the  Karbonn Smart Tab 2 from Amazon, which has  a better screen and battery life,  not to mention it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The trade-off is that you have to use Wi-Fi or 3G dongles  and can't use EDGE or the  phone function—but it's worth it.

Orlando Kiosks

Image
People flying into Orlando International Airport from out of the country  will be able to get through U.S. Customs more quickly thanks  to a new $400,000 system unveiled to the media on Wednesday. Ten electronic kiosks were put into operation that allow  travelers to enter  information such as the size of their  party, the purpose of their visit  and other administrative data and have it electronically  transmitted to Customs officers rather than show them paperwork.   Airport and Customs officials estimate the kiosks could cut the  time dealing with an agent to 30 seconds. OIA is the first airport to offer the service, which is available to American and Canadian citizens, as well as visitors from 37 countries who do not need a visa.   All of it is activated through a touch screen.Other airports, among them Chicago. Miami and Houston, employ similar kiosks,  but only for Americans and Canadians. The biggest plus of the kiosks,is the time saved c

Northern Ontario vs. Florida - Wintertime

Image
I've been asked what is so appealing with living in Florida for 6 months of the year??? Well without being too ostentatious I thought let my keyboard fingers do the talking.Even though we have been retired for 26 years I recall vividly what it was like living in  Northern Ontario in the Winter time.It was not fun.  If skiing, snow machines, ice fishing is your thing well there is lots to do.If you are  a golfer, every day is "When is this going to end?"

The Conservative Government on the edge of a balanced budget in the next election is thinking about ways to shaft the "Senior Citizens" along with the many others who save a few income tax dollars by using "INCOME SPLITTING" Voice your opinion by sending a email to the above address.    I’d much prefer a flat-tax system of 10% for all and no breaks,  but at this point in time, there is no chance anyone in government  would implement such a thing. So until then, let’s agree to make the tax system fairer.  give your MP an earful. Or e-mail Stephen Harper directly pm@pm.gc.ca

Canadian 2014 Budjet

Image
Jim Flaherty - Canada's Finance Minister “We made a platform commitment to introduce income-splitting when we get to a balanced budget. We’ll get to a balanced budget next year, that’s very clear.”. “I think income-splitting needs a long, hard analytical look … by our various think-tanks to see who it affects in society and to what degree,” he told a business group in Ottawa one day after tabling his 2014-15 budget. “I’m not sure that, overall, it benefits our society,” he said. “I would pay down public debt and reduce taxes more, myself, but I am only one person … ********************************** Income splitting is a very important plank in the Torries plan for re-election in 2016.To give away any goodies now on this 2014 Budjet would possibly be somewhat of a anti vote. “Harper - We made a platform commitment to introduce income-splitting when we get to a balanced budget. We’ll get to a balanced budget next year, that’s very clear.”

Most of these 2014 Olympic Medals were won by snowboarders and trick skiers. These are all modern day sports. Now Hockey is almost Professional at every level. Very expensive for the Parents, thousands of dollars a yr. No one in my era Would be able to afford it. How many kids are successful?  132 out of those 22,000 made it into the top feeder Leagues for the NHL. Of those 132 players, " only 7 played in the NHL " .

Canadian Taxes

Image
Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty discusses this week’s federal budget. Whether the Conservatives move forward with their long-promised income-splitting scheme is up to the prime minister, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said. The tax perk has become the subject of scrutiny, with some critics saying it amounts to little more than a cost to government that benefits few, affluent households. “It’s a good debate,” Flaherty said in an interview on The West Block with Tom Clark. “And I think in the next year it will be healthy for Canada to have a fulsome discussion about that issue, because there are some people who benefit, and some who don’t in that world of income-splitting. Whatever the outcome of that national discussion, Flaherty said he won’t be the one deciding whether the 2011 promise is kept. “That will be up to the prime minister at the end of the day, whether he chooses to go ahead with it or not,” the minister said.

Chinese or Russian Hackers

Image
There's a good reason for all that malware and illegality on the Internet: It's extremely profitable. Over the first six months of 2011, a Russia-based gang of technically adept gangsters successfully stole over $3 million from American organizations and individuals. The group is led by a shady character known only by the title Soldier. According to a TechWorld article, a Trend Micro , and a much more thorough Trend Micro report, Soldier is a young man in his early 20s, residing in Russia. He appears to have an accomplice in Hollywood. During those six months, the gang stole an average of approximately $17,000 a day. Their tool of choice appears to be SpyEye/ZeuS, a combination of two powerful and scary hacker toolkits. With these programming tools, the gang successfully compromised a huge number of mostly American targets. Soldier's botnet was able to gain access to more than 25,000 devices between April 19 and June 29, 2011, nearly all of them in the United State
